Fix Old Titles and Previews Showing in Search and Social
You updated a page's title, description or share image but the old version still shows up. That is almost always caching on the other side.
Check what the page says
- Open the page and view its source, or paste its address into a meta tag preview tool.
- Confirm the title, description and image are the new ones.
- If they are not, re-save and republish the page in Sites.
Refresh social previews
Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Pinterest store previews of links. Each offers a debugger or cache refresh tool where you enter the page address and request a re-scrape. After that, share the link again.
Refresh Google
- Verify your domain in Google Search Console (the meta tag method is the simplest).
- Use the URL Inspection tool and paste the page address.
- Choose Request Indexing.
Changes in results can take days.
Other checks
- Make sure the page is published and not blocked from search engines.
- Share image sizes around 1200 by 630 pixels work best.
- Keep titles under about 60 characters and descriptions under about 160.
Good to know: After a rebrand, refresh your top five pages first; they will be the ones people see most.
