Apply a Custom Object Template
Building custom objects from scratch takes time — deciding on fields, organizing them into folders, and wiring up associations to contacts and opportunities. Custom object templates skip that setup by installing a ready-made structure for your industry in one click.
What a template sets up for you
Applying a template automatically creates:
- The custom object itself, with a sensible starting structure
- Fields already organized into logical folders
- Associations linking the new object to related records like companies, opportunities, or other custom objects
What it doesn't create: sample data, workflows, or automations. It sets up the structure — you still decide how to use it.
Available industry templates
Templates exist for Real Estate, Insurance, Automotive, SaaS, Events, Pets, and Home Services. Each is built around the kind of records that industry typically needs to track beyond a standard contact — properties, policies, vehicles, event bookings, and so on.
How to apply one
- Go to Settings → Objects.
- Click Add Custom Object.
- Choose Use a Template.
- Browse the available templates and pick the one closest to your business.
- Review the preview — it shows the objects, fields, associations, tags, and any prerequisites involved.
- Click Import Objects.
- Adjust the resulting structure to match your business — rename fields, add new ones, or remove anything you don't need.
Something to know
You can edit a template's structure after importing it, but there's currently no way to save your own customized version as a reusable template for next time — each import starts from the original template.
