Getting Started With the Chat Widget
The chat widget is a small messenger you place on your website so visitors can reach you the moment a question comes up. Every message lands in Conversations, so your team replies from the same inbox they already use.
Choose a chat type
- All-in-One Chat: combines several channels in a single window; you pick which ones to show.
- Email and SMS Chat: collects the visitor's details so you can reply later. Ideal if nobody watches the site around the clock.
- Live Chat (Web Chat): real-time two-way chat, best for teams with set staffing hours.
- Facebook Chat and Instagram Chat: let visitors start a direct message with your connected profile.
- WhatsApp Chat: hands the visitor over to your connected WhatsApp number.
- Voice AI Chat: lets visitors talk to an AI agent through their browser.
Create your first widget
- Go to Sites > Chat Widget and click New.
- Pick a chat type.
- Work through the tabs: Style (theme, icon, avatar, placement, size), Chat Window (title, intro, contact form, consent notice), Messaging (acknowledgement and language) and Agent (only for types with AI).
- Click Save.
- Install it using Get Code, or select it directly in your website or funnel settings.
Add Conversation AI
For supported types you can let the AI greet visitors and answer common questions even when nobody is online.
Good to know: Changing a widget's settings later updates it everywhere automatically, so you never need to reinstall the code.
