Log Details to a Record with the Add to Notes Action
Add to Notes writes a note onto the record that is enrolled in the workflow, creating a lasting trace of what the automation saw or did.
Where the note goes
- In contact workflows, the note is added to the contact.
- In custom object workflows, it is added to the custom object record.
Notes appear in the record's Notes area.
What you can include
- Formatted text with bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, bulleted and numbered lists, and links.
- Merge fields from the custom value picker.
- Trigger links, using the Trigger Links icon.
- An optional note title and note color, for contact workflows only. Both are optional, and workflows built earlier keep working unchanged.
Set it up
- Open your workflow and click +.
- Choose Add to Notes.
- Name the action, for example "Log appointment details".
- Type the note and insert merge fields where needed.
- Click Save Action and publish.
Example
Trigger: Appointment Booked. The note might read: "Booked a consultation for the appointment date at the appointment time. Source: the form name." Anyone who opens the contact later sees the history without searching conversations.
Good to know: Include a short, consistent title in contact notes so teammates can scan the list quickly.
