Clean Up Numbers, Phones and Currency with the Number Formatter

The Number Formatter action converts values captured by forms or integrations into a consistent, usable shape. It runs on a field you choose and saves the result so later steps can reference it.

Action types

  • Text to Number turns text like "$12,345.67" into 12345.67 so it can be used in calculations. Set Input Decimal Mark to match how the source writes decimals.
  • Format Number controls decimal and thousands separators for display.
  • Format Phone Number standardizes a phone into a chosen layout, such as E.164 or a national style. Choose the Phone Number Country Code so numbers without a prefix are read correctly.
  • Format Currency shows a value as money. Pick the Currency (USD, EUR and so on) and the Currency Locale, for example en-US.
  • Random Number generates a value between a Lower Range and Upper Range, with optional Decimal Points.

Set it up

  1. In your workflow, click + and add Number Formatter.
  2. Enter an Action Name.
  3. Choose the Action Type.
  4. Select the input field and complete the options for that type.
  5. Save the action, then use its output in later steps through the variable picker.

Examples

  • Standardize a phone number to E.164 before a call or text step runs.
  • Convert a form's "Budget" text answer to a number, then compare it in an If/Else branch.
  • Generate a random number from 1 to 2 to split contacts between two follow-up versions.

Good to know: Formatted results are new values, so insert the action's output variable in your messages rather than the original field.
