Blog and Post Statuses Explained

Statuses control what visitors can see and when. There are two levels: the blog itself, and each post inside it.

Blog statuses

  • Draft: the blog exists but nobody outside your team can see it. Use this while you build the layout.
  • Live: the blog is public. Individual posts still follow their own status.
  • Delete: removes the blog permanently.

Post statuses

  • Draft: saved but not public.
  • Scheduled: set to publish automatically at a date and time you pick.
  • Published: live and visible to visitors. Use Update Post to change something already live.
  • Archive: removed from lists and navigation but still reachable if someone has the direct link.
  • Delete: removes the post. See the restore article if you remove something by mistake.

Common situations

  1. To keep writing without going live, save as Draft.
  2. To queue content, pick Schedule, set a future date and time, then save.
  3. To tidy your list without losing a post, choose Archive.
  4. To edit a live post, reopen it and click Update Post.

Good to know: A published post inside a blog that is still in Draft will not be visible, so set the blog to Live before launch.
