Edit an Existing Email Template
Templates are reusable email designs with a layout, branding, common content and styling already in place. Updating one is quick, and the change applies the next time you use it.
Edit a template
- Go to Marketing > Emails > Templates.
- Find the template. Search or browse your folders.
- Open it by double-clicking.
- Change the text, layout or design in the editor.
- Save, or confirm that autosave is on.
You can also start from a ready-made design in the template library and customize it to suit you.
Before you rely on the changes
- Check the formatting in preview, especially on mobile.
- Send yourself a test email.
- Make sure merge fields and custom values are written correctly and have sensible fallbacks.
Will changes affect emails already sent?
Editing a template does not change emails that have already gone out. Campaigns you built earlier from the template also keep the version they were created with, unless you rebuild them.
When to copy instead
If you want a variation, such as a seasonal version, duplicate the template first and edit the copy. That keeps your original design intact for everyday use.
Good to know: Name templates by purpose and year, for example "Welcome email 2026", so you always know which one is current.
