Follow Up on Calls with the Call Details Trigger
Missed calls and voicemails are lost chances if nobody follows up. The Call Details trigger starts a workflow based on the outcome of a call, so your team always knows what happened and what to do next.
What fires it
The workflow runs when a call reaches an outcome you selected. Supported outcomes include busy, canceled, voicemail, completed and not answered.
Filters
- Call Direction: incoming or outgoing.
- Call Details: one or more outcomes, such as voicemail or not answered.
- In Workflow: limit the trigger to calls placed from a chosen workflow, useful for chaining automations together.
Set it up
- In Automation > Workflows, create a workflow and click Add New Trigger.
- Select Call Details and name it, for example "Missed call follow-up".
- Click Add filters and choose Call Direction and Call Details.
- Click Save Trigger, add actions, test, and publish.
Examples
- Missed call text-back: direction incoming, outcome not answered or busy. Send an apology text with a booking link, notify the team and create a callback task.
- Support callback: an unanswered support call schedules a callback and updates the contact's activity.
- Sales logging: direction outgoing, outcome completed. Add a note, send a follow-up email and set the next call.
- Voicemail alert: when a customer leaves a voicemail, send it to the right teammate with the contact details.
- Reporting: tag contacts by call result so you can build lists.
Tips
- Create separate triggers for incoming and outgoing calls so each path has the right message.
- Use a short Wait before the text-back so the reply does not feel automated at the very second the call ends.
Good to know: For automation based on what was said on the call, use the Transcript Generated trigger instead.
