Hide a Countdown Timer in Apple Mail
Email timers are images, and Apple Mail sometimes keeps a stored copy instead of requesting a fresh one. A reader could open your email a second time and see a clock frozen at an old value. The Hide Timer in Apple Mail setting prevents that by not showing the timer to Apple Mail users.
What It Does and Does Not Do
- Hides the timer image only for Apple Mail readers. Other email apps still show the countdown.
- Does not change your deadline.
- Does not break your buttons: the timer's redirection link still sends contacts to the Active or Expired page depending on the timer state.
Turn It On
- Go to Marketing, then Countdown Timers.
- Open the timer, or click + New to create one.
- Open the Styling settings.
- Scroll to the Apple Mail section.
- Switch on Hide Timer in Apple Mail.
- Click Save.
- Preview and send a test before emailing your full audience.
Tips for Apple Mail Readers
Because the clock will not appear for them, state the deadline in plain text too, for example "Offer ends Friday at 6 PM Eastern". That way every reader understands the urgency.
You can enable the setting on a timer that is already live; the change applies to all emails that use it.
Good to know: Send test emails to a few different inboxes, including one using Apple Mail, so you know what each audience actually sees.
