Organizing Services Into Categories and Menus

Once you're offering more than a handful of services, an uncategorized list becomes hard for customers to scan and hard for you to maintain. Categories group related services into a menu structure, similar to how a spa or clinic groups treatments by type.

Why categories matter at scale

A booking page with 25 services listed flat, in no particular order, pushes customers to give up before they book. Grouping those same 25 services into five or six labeled categories — like "Hair," "Skin," "Consultations" — makes the page scannable and cuts down on booking abandonment.

Creating categories

  1. Go to your calendar's Services section.
  2. Create a category and give it a clear, customer-facing name.
  3. Assign existing services to that category, or create new services directly inside it.
  4. Set the display order of categories and the services within each one — put your most-booked services near the top.

Managing a large menu

For businesses with many locations or many staff specialties, keep category names consistent across every calendar so customers see the same structure no matter which booking page they land on. Archive or hide seasonal services instead of deleting them, so you can bring them back without rebuilding pricing and duration settings from scratch.

Good to know: Categories are a display and organization tool only — they don't change availability logic, so a service still books according to its own staff, duration, and buffer settings regardless of which category it sits in.
