Give Each Trigger Its Own Starting Action with Go-To Connections
When one workflow has several triggers, you may want each one to land on a different step rather than all starting at the top. Go-To connections let you draw that path directly on the advanced canvas.
What they do
A Go-To connection is a dashed line from a trigger to the action where contacts from that trigger should begin. When the trigger matches, the contact jumps to that action and continues down the normal path from there. This replaces big if/else blocks or duplicated workflows that existed only to handle different entry points.
Set one up
- Open the workflow in the advanced builder canvas.
- Add the triggers and actions you need.
- Click the small connector dot on a trigger and drag it to the connector dot of the action where it should begin.
- Release to drop the dashed line.
- Repeat for every trigger, then Save and Publish.
To change a path later, drag the dashed line to another action.
Rules to remember
- Every trigger must connect to exactly one action before the workflow can be saved. A trigger left unconnected defaults to the first action.
- An action has one incoming link and one next step. Connecting an action that already has a next step replaces the old link.
- A contact enters once per run, credited to the trigger that fired, and does not walk down several branches at the same time.
- If re-entry is allowed in Settings, the same contact can enter again later through another trigger.
- Go-To connections work only in the advanced builder. Before switching back to the standard view, remove Go-To links and other advanced-only elements.
Example
A workflow has two triggers: Form Submitted and Customer Booked Appointment. The form trigger points to a "Send intro email" action, while the booking trigger points straight to "Send confirmation text". Both paths later merge into the same follow-up.
Good to know: Name each trigger clearly; the dashed lines are far easier to read when the labels say what each entry point is for.
