Reply to Post Comments with the Facebook and Instagram Comment Triggers
Comments on your posts are a ready-made conversation starter. The Facebook Comment(s) On A Post and Instagram Comment(s) On A Post triggers start a workflow when a comment matches what you are looking for, so you can reply, message the commenter or tag them.
Which trigger for which platform
Each trigger works only for its own platform. Use the Facebook trigger for Facebook pages and the Instagram trigger for Instagram accounts. Both live in the Facebook/Instagram Events group.
Filters
- Page Is: choose a connected page.
- Post Type: Published Post (pick from a list) or Custom Post (paste a post URL).
- Post Is: the specific post that matches the page and type.
- Contains Phrase or Exact Match:
- Contains Phrase passes when the comment includes your exact text. If your phrase is "I bought from you", then "I bought from you yesterday" passes but "I bought one from you" does not.
- Exact Match passes only when the whole comment equals your text.
First-level comments only
The Track First Level Comments Only toggle controls replies. Off: nested replies also fire the trigger. On: only top-level comments do.
Set it up
- In Automation > Workflows, click Add New Trigger.
- Select the Facebook or Instagram comment trigger.
- Name it, such as "Giveaway keyword comment".
- Add the page, post, and phrase filters, and decide on the toggle.
- Click Save Trigger, add actions, and publish.
Ideas
- Comment "GUIDE" on a post and the workflow sends the guide by direct message.
- Reply publicly to thank commenters and move the chat to a private channel.
- Tag people who mention a product so sales can follow up.
Good to know: Use several short phrases rather than one long one, because contains requires the exact text to appear.
