Require Profiles for New Community Members

If you run a community group inside Vendi Today, you can require new members to add a photo and short bio before they get in, so the group feels like real people from the start instead of a wall of blank avatars.

What this setting does

When it's turned on, anyone joining your group is prompted to complete their profile — a profile picture and a short bio — before they can start participating. Turn it off, and new members can jump straight into the group without filling anything in first (though they're always free to add profile details later on their own).

Turning it on or off

  1. Open the community group you want to change.
  2. Go to its Settings.
  3. Find the option for the mandatory profile prompt.
  4. Toggle it on to require profiles, or off to skip the requirement.
  5. Save your change.

A few things to know

  • This setting applies to one group at a time — if you run multiple communities, you'll set it separately for each.
  • It only affects people joining after you make the change; members who already joined aren't retroactively prompted.
  • It behaves the same whether members are on the web, iOS, or Android.
  • Only group owners and community admins can change this setting.

When to use it

Requiring profiles tends to make sense for larger or more public groups, where a bit of friction up front helps keep out low-effort or spammy sign-ups and makes the space feel more personal. For a small, invite-only group where you already know everyone, it's probably unnecessary — feel free to leave it off.
