Connect a Root Domain or Subdomain to Your Sites
Using your own address for websites, funnels, stores, blogs and webinars looks professional and builds trust.
Choose the right hostname
A root domain is the plain address (example.com). A subdomain adds a prefix (www.example.com or offers.example.com). If your root domain already hosts a site or email that must keep working, connect a subdomain instead. One hostname cannot point to two services at once.
Connect it
- Go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects and click Connect a domain.
- Choose the Funnel, Website, Store, Blog or Webinar option and click Connect.
- Enter the domain in Domain URL.
- Choose Continue for automatic setup, or Add record manually.
For a root domain you can also add the www version, with a redirect to the root.
Automatic or manual DNS
- Automatic: if your provider is supported, authorize the connection when prompted and wait for verification.
- Manual: sign in where your DNS is managed and add the record shown on the screen. Use either an address record or an alias record for a hostname, never both. If you use Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only, not proxied.
Changes can take up to 24 hours to spread.
Finish
- When verification succeeds, select the funnel or website and its default landing page, then click Link Domain. A security certificate is added automatically within minutes.
- Under Manage for the domain, choose a Default Page and a Default 404/Error Page.
Good to know: An Action Required reminder appears until both default pages are chosen.
