Build a Double Opt-In Flow

A double opt-in flow requires a new lead to actively confirm they want to hear from you before they start receiving your regular emails or texts. It's a good practice for keeping your list clean and for staying compliant with anti-spam rules in stricter regions.

How it works

  1. Someone submits a form, survey, or fills out a booking widget on your site.
  2. Instead of dropping straight into your main nurture sequence, they're sent one confirmation message (email or SMS) asking them to confirm — for example, "Reply YES to confirm" or "Click here to confirm your subscription."
  3. Only after they confirm are they tagged as an opted-in contact and enrolled into your regular campaigns.
  4. Anyone who doesn't confirm within a set window is left out of future marketing sends, but you still keep their record.

Building it with a workflow

  1. Create a new Workflow and set the trigger to whatever captures the lead — a form submission, survey completion, or similar.
  2. Add an action to send the confirmation email or SMS immediately after the trigger fires.
  3. Add a Wait for reply / event step that listens for the confirmation (a specific reply keyword, or a click on a confirmation link).
  4. Branch the workflow: contacts who confirm get a tag like opted-in and move into your nurture sequence; contacts who don't respond within your chosen window can be tagged unconfirmed or removed from the workflow.
  5. Use that opted-in tag as the entry condition for your regular marketing workflows, so only confirmed contacts ever receive them.

Why bother

A double opt-in step filters out mistyped contact info, bots, and people who weren't really interested — so the list you're actually marketing to is smaller but far more engaged, and your deliverability stays healthier as a result.
