Automate Workflows with Company Triggers and Actions
Workflows aren't limited to contacts — you can trigger and act on Company records too, which is useful for B2B accounts where the business itself, not just one person, needs to move through a process.
Triggers
- Company Created — fires when a new company record is added. You can filter on the owner, tags, or specific fields so the workflow only runs for companies that match.
- Company Changed — fires when a company's fields are updated, so you can react the moment something specific changes (for example, a plan tier or account status field).
Actions
- Create Company or Associated Contact — creates a new company record, or adds a contact to an existing one.
- Update Company or Associated Contact — updates company data, with the option to push those changes down to linked contacts too.
- Clear Fields of Company or Associated Contact — wipes out specific field values, useful for resetting stale data.
- Create Associated Company (from a contact-based workflow) — builds a new company record directly from a contact workflow.
- Update Associated Company (from a contact-based workflow) — updates the company linked to the contact that triggered the workflow.
- Clear Fields of Associated Company (from a contact-based workflow) — clears company fields as a result of something happening on the contact side.
Example uses
- Automatically assign an account owner and lifecycle stage the moment a new company is created.
- Mirror a company's "health status" field down to every contact at that business, so your team sees at-risk accounts from any contact record.
- Automatically clear a promotional discount field once its expiration date passes.
- Sync a company's industry or plan tier onto its contacts, so you can segment and filter contacts by attributes that actually live on the company.
Setting one up
- Create or edit a Workflow.
- Set the trigger to Company Created or Company Changed, and add any filters you need.
- Add the action(s) that should run — updating the company, its contacts, or both.
- Save and turn the workflow on.
