Display Tax IDs on Invoices

Automatically show your business's tax ID — and each client's individual tax ID — on every invoice you send, without retyping them each time.

Set up your business tax ID

  1. Go to your account's custom values settings.
  2. Add a custom value for your tax ID (for example, "VAT ID: 1234567").
  3. In your invoice layout settings, add this custom value under the Business Information section (see Customize Your Invoice Layout and Branding).

Set up client tax IDs

  1. Create a custom field called Tax ID, attached to contacts, using a single-line text format.
  2. In your invoice layout settings, add this field under the Contact Information section.
  3. For each client that needs one, open their contact record's Additional Info tab and enter their tax ID.

Once both are configured, every new invoice automatically pulls in your business tax ID and the specific client's tax ID (if one is on file) — no manual entry required per invoice. This is especially useful for VAT, GST, or similar tax compliance requirements where the ID needs to appear on the document itself.
