Add Box and Text Shadows

Shadows add depth. A soft shadow can make a card feel raised, while an inner shadow can make a field look recessed.

Where to find shadows

Select an element and open the Advanced tab. Shadow controls are there, split into box shadow (all elements including images, buttons and text blocks) and text shadow (text-based elements).

Add a shadow

  1. Select the element in the builder and open the Advanced tab.
  2. Choose box shadow or text shadow.
  3. Click the plus button to apply a default outer shadow.
  4. Fine-tune the settings below.
  5. Click plus again to stack more shadows for layered effects.

Shadow settings

  • Outer or inner: outer shadows lift an element off the page; inner shadows push it in.
  • X value: horizontal offset.
  • Y value: vertical offset.
  • Blur: a higher number gives a softer edge.
  • Spread: grows or shrinks the shadow.
  • Color: pick a color that matches your palette, usually a low-opacity dark tone.

Style tips

  • Keep blur larger than offset for a natural look.
  • Use the same shadow recipe on all cards for consistency.
  • Avoid heavy text shadows on small copy; they reduce legibility.

Good to know: Light, low-opacity shadows look more professional than dark ones; if you notice the shadow first, it is too strong.
