Set Up Automated Invoice Payment Reminders

Stop chasing overdue invoices manually — configure automatic reminders that go out by email or SMS on a schedule you define.

Set up a reminder

  1. Go to your invoice settings and open Reminder Settings.
  2. Create a new reminder and give it a descriptive name.
  3. Choose or build the email/SMS template it should use.
  4. Set the timing — for example, "3 days before the due date," or a set number of days after it becomes overdue.
  5. Set a maximum number of times this reminder should send.
  6. Save.

You can create multiple reminders with different timing and messaging — for example, a friendly nudge a few days before the due date, and a firmer follow-up once an invoice is overdue.

Managing reminders

Toggle any reminder on or off, or delete it entirely, from the same Reminder Settings screen.

What to know before relying on this

  • Reminders only apply to invoices created after you turn the feature on — invoices that were already overdue before setup need to be followed up on manually.
  • Dynamic fields (like the customer's name or amount due) don't auto-populate if you send a reminder manually rather than letting the automation handle it.
  • Changing your reminder settings doesn't retroactively affect invoices that already exist — new settings apply going forward only.
