Set Up a Live Chat Widget

A chat widget puts a small "message us" bubble on your website so visitors can ask a question right when it occurs to them, instead of hunting for a contact form or leaving without reaching out at all.

Build the widget

  1. Go to Sites > Chat Widget and click New.
  2. Select Live Chat as the type.
  3. Customize the look — colors, greeting text, position on the page — to match your branding.
  4. Save, and copy the embed code that's generated.

Add it to your site

You've got two ways to install it, depending on your comfort level with code:

Paste the embed code directly Open your website or funnel in the editor, find the tracking code icon, paste in the code you copied, and save.

Use the settings menu instead If you'd rather skip the code entirely, go to your website or funnel's settings, find the Chat Widget section, select your widget from the dropdown, and save. This does the same thing without touching any code.

What happens when someone chats in

Messages sent through the widget land in your Conversations inbox, right alongside your email and text conversations — no separate chat tool to check. From there, your team can reply directly, or, depending on how your account is set up, an AI assistant can handle routine questions automatically.

Test before you consider it done

Once it's installed, open your site in an incognito window, send yourself a test message through the widget, and confirm it shows up correctly in Conversations. It's much easier to catch a setup issue now than to hear about it from a frustrated visitor later.
