Auto-Generating Google Meet Links for Appointments
If your team already lives in Google Calendar, Google Meet is often the simplest video option — it doesn't require a separate account the way Zoom does, since it rides along with your existing Google connection.
How it works
When a calendar's meeting location is set to Google Meet, every new booking automatically generates a unique Meet link attached to the corresponding Google Calendar event. That link shows up in the customer's confirmation and reminder messages and on the calendar event itself.
Setting it up
- Make sure you already have Google Calendar connected under your profile's Calendar Connections — Google Meet generation relies on that same connection rather than a separate integration.
- Open the calendar you want to use Meet for, and set its meeting/conferencing location to Google Meet.
- Book a test appointment and confirm the Meet link generates correctly and lands in the confirmation message.
Meet vs. Zoom
Google Meet is generally the more frictionless option if your team is already on Google Calendar for sync — one connection covers both calendar sync and meeting links. Zoom may still be worth using if your team prefers its interface, needs Zoom-specific features like breakout rooms, or already has paid Zoom licenses in place.
Good to know: Because Meet link generation depends on your Google Calendar connection, anything that breaks that connection — a revoked permission, an expired token — will also stop new Meet links from generating, even though the calendar sync and the meeting links might look like separate features.
