Buying a Phone Number

Before you can call or text from Vendi Today, you need a phone number. You can rent a new local or toll-free number in seconds, or bring in a number you already own (see Moving & Porting Phone Numbers).

Buy a local number

  1. Go to Settings > Phone System > Phone Numbers.
  2. Click Add Number > Buy a Number.
  3. Choose the country.
  4. Filter by number type (Local), and optionally by capability (Voice, SMS, MMS) or a specific area code or digit pattern.
  5. Pick a number from the results and click Proceed to Buy.

If the area code you want is showing no availability, try a nearby or overlay area code — high-demand codes run out quickly. Available countries, area codes, and capabilities depend on carrier inventory and local regulations, so options vary by country.

Buy a toll-free number

Follow the same steps but filter for Toll-Free instead of Local. Toll-free numbers (starting with 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, or 833) cost more per month than local numbers but support a higher texting throughput. In the US and Canada, a toll-free number must also complete a separate verification step before it can send SMS/MMS at full volume — see Toll-Free Number Verification.

After you buy

Once purchased, the number appears in your numbers list. From there:

  • Assign it to a user or team (see Assigning Phone Numbers to Users).
  • Configure how it handles inbound calls (see Phone Number Configuration Options).
  • If you'll be texting US/Canada contacts, complete A2P registration.

Can't find the number you want?

If a specific number or area code never shows up as available, contact support with the number type, quantity, and preferred prefix you're after — they can check whether it can be sourced outside the standard self-serve list.
