Discover Trends with Social Listening

Analytics tells you how your own posts performed. Social Listening shows you what people are searching for and sharing right now, so you can plan content around it.

What you will find

Open Marketing > Social Planner > Social Listening to view trend discovery from public sources:

  • Google Trends: What people are searching for at the moment.
  • Pinterest Keywords: Rising ideas and searches, a good sign of what people are planning or saving.
  • Wikipedia Pageviews: Topics gaining attention worldwide.
  • TikTok Trends: Breakout songs, popular hashtags, and viral sounds.
  • YouTube Insights: Trending channels, keywords, and videos.

No social account connection is required, because the data is public.

How to use it

  1. Click the Social Listening tab in Social Planner.
  2. Choose a data source, such as a keyword, hashtag, song, or channel. The matching list is highlighted and scrollable with details.
  3. Apply the date filter to focus on a specific period. Charts refresh automatically.
  4. Look for the New tag on keywords that have just begun to spike.
  5. Turn what you find into a post and schedule it straight away.

What each card shows

  • Google Trends: Search volume by country.
  • Pinterest Keywords: Total pins, weekly, monthly, and yearly growth, top regions, and a 0 to 100 trend score.
  • Wikipedia Pageviews: Current-week views, last week's average, and daily and weekly trend percentages.
  • TikTok: Breakout and popular songs with artist names, plus hashtags with search volume and industry.
  • YouTube: Popular channels, popular keywords, and trending videos with likes and comments.

Clicking a card opens the original source in a new tab so you can explore further; nothing you do there changes your account.

Choosing a source

  • Search demand today: Google Trends.
  • Planning and saving behavior: Pinterest Keywords.
  • Broad public interest: Wikipedia Pageviews.
  • Short-video virality: TikTok Trends.
  • Creator and video topics: YouTube Insights.

Tips

  • Spend ten or fifteen minutes on it each week.
  • Skip trends that do not suit your brand.
  • If a view is too broad, narrow the dates.
  • The page is view-only and cannot be downloaded.

Good to know: Trending topics can lead you to conversations where your future customers are already active.
