Send Messages in the Contact's Language with AI Translate
The AI Translate action converts text from one language to another inside a workflow, so you can write your message once and deliver it in whatever language each contact prefers.
How it works
You choose a source language, a target language and the text to convert. The translated result is saved as a variable that any later action can use, such as an email body, SMS or notification.
Add it to a workflow
- Click + and search for Translate, then select it.
- Enter an Action Name, such as "Translate welcome to French".
- Fill in From Language (the language your text is written in).
- Fill in To Language (the language you want).
- In Input Text, type the content or use the tag icon to insert a contact field or an earlier action's output.
- Click Save Action.
Use the translated text
Open the variable picker in the next step and look for the output of your translate action. It appears as a workflow AI value such as {{workflow_ai_translate_content.2.response}} (the number depends on the step's position in your workflow). Insert it where the message body belongs.
Example: multilingual welcome
- Trigger: Contact Created from a sign-up form that asks for a preferred language.
- Add an If/Else to check the language answer.
- In the French branch, add Translate with English as the source and French as the target, using your standard welcome text.
- Add Send Email and insert the translated output in the body.
- Repeat for other languages you support.
Tips
- Translate short, plain sentences for the most reliable results.
- Keep personalization (name, appointment time) outside the translated text, or insert it afterward, so names are never altered.
- Have a native speaker review important templates once before publishing.
Good to know: Translating an inbound customer message into your own language is just as useful for support teams as translating outbound messages.
