SMS Compliance Settings

Rather than manually typing opt-out language and your business name into every message, you can have the system add and refresh this automatically.

What gets added

  • Opt-out language — an unsubscribe line appended to your messages. The system recognizes standard opt-out keywords (STOP, STOPALL, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, END, QUIT) and won't duplicate the line if your message already includes one.
  • Sender information — a short identifier appended to messages (e.g., "Thanks, Jamie at Oak & Co.") so recipients always know who's texting.

Setting it up

  1. Go to Settings > Phone System > Messaging > Messaging Compliance.
  2. Toggle on Make SMS compliant by adding an opt-out message, and enter your unsubscribe text.
  3. Toggle on Make SMS compliant by adding sender information, and enter your business/sender name.
  4. Toggle on Enable Periodic Opt-Out & Sender Info if you want these reinserted periodically into ongoing conversations, not just the first message — then set the refresh interval (1–60 days; 30 is a reasonable default).
  5. Save.

How it behaves

  • The very first outbound message to a new contact always includes both elements, regardless of the periodic setting.
  • After that, they're only reinserted at your chosen interval if periodic updates are enabled — otherwise they only appear once.

New accounts have these settings enabled by default. Very new or trial accounts (under 15 days old) can't disable them — this is a deliberate guardrail while your sending reputation is still being established.
