Manage WordPress Plugins and Themes From Vendi Today
You can handle routine plugin and theme maintenance without opening the WordPress admin area. The management screen shows what is installed, which versions are available, and lets you update or switch items on and off.
What you can do
- Activate: turn on an installed item.
- Deactivate: turn it off without deleting it.
- Delete: remove it from the site.
- Update: install the newest version.
Each item shows its Current Version and Available Version, so you can see what is out of date at a glance. Downgrading is not supported from this screen.
Steps
- Click Sites > WordPress, then Manage Site on the site you want.
- Confirm whether you are in Live or Staging using the selector in the header.
- Open Plugins or Themes.
- Compare the current and available versions and click Update where needed.
- Open an item's action menu to Activate, Deactivate, or Delete it.
- Visit your site to check that everything still looks right.
Adding new plugins
The management screen works with plugins that are already installed. To add a new one, either choose it from the popular list while creating the site, or use Plugins > Add New in the WordPress admin area.
Safer changes
Changes made in Staging stay there until you publish, while changes in Live affect your visitors immediately. For large updates, try them in Staging first. If a plugin causes trouble, the plugin troubleshooter can help you find out which one.
Good to know: Deactivate before you delete; if the site breaks after deleting, you cannot instantly switch it back on.
