Connect NMI
NMI is a card-processing gateway you can connect for order forms, invoices, and Text2Pay links, with support for tokenized cards, fraud checks, and recurring billing.
Connect your account
- In your NMI merchant account, go to Settings > Account Information and retrieve your Gateway ID, Security Key, and Public Key.
- In Vendi Today, go to Payments > Integrations and find NMI.
- Enter your Gateway ID, Security Key, and Public Key, then save.
Accept bank transfers (ACH) through NMI
NMI can also process direct bank-account payments for US and Canadian customers, on one-time invoices, recurring invoices, and subscriptions.
- Confirm bank-account processing is enabled on your NMI account — contact NMI support if you're not sure.
- Complete NMI's settlement and payment-status configuration on their end.
- In your NMI dashboard, add the webhook URL shown on the NMI integration screen in Vendi Today, and enable the settlement and payment-status events.
At checkout, US customers provide their routing number, account number, account holder name, and account type; Canadian customers provide their transit and institution numbers instead. Bank transfers don't clear instantly like card payments — expect up to 5 business days before a transfer shows a final status, so hold off on fulfillment until it settles. For recurring charges, the customer needs to complete one bank-account payment on an invoice first before that account can be used for automatic billing.
Limitations to plan around
- NMI accepts credit and debit cards only — no Apple Pay, Google Pay, or digital wallets.
- You can't run NMI and another card gateway as the default for order forms at the same time.
- Customers can only purchase one recurring product per checkout.
- Refunds have to be issued from the NMI merchant portal — there's no in-app refund button for NMI transactions.
- A customer's last saved card on a billing profile can't be deleted; they need at least one on file.
If you also want the extra 3D Secure fraud check on card payments, NMI supports it — enroll in Payer Authentication 2.0 in your NMI account, generate a Checkout Public Key, and add it to the NMI integration screen in Vendi Today.
