Import Your Existing Contacts
If you're moving to Vendi Today from a spreadsheet, another CRM, or your email provider's address book, you don't have to re-enter everyone by hand. A CSV import brings your whole list in at once — with you deciding how each column maps to a field in Vendi Today.
Before you start
Export your existing contacts to a CSV file. Keep the file under 50MB — if your list is larger, split it into a few smaller files and import them one after another. It also helps to skim your column headers first (Name, Email, Phone, etc.) so the mapping step goes faster.
Running the import
- Go to Contacts and click the import icon.
- Choose Import Contacts and confirm you're uploading a CSV.
- Upload your file.
- Map each column in your file to a field in Vendi Today — Email to Email, Phone to Phone, and so on.
- For columns that don't match anything standard (like "Referral Source"), you can create a new custom field on the spot or simply skip that column.
- Give the import a name and choose a list to add these contacts to — this makes it easy to find or message this exact group later.
- Set consent preferences for the contacts you're importing, since this affects whether you can message them by email or text.
- Start the import and let it process.
Handling duplicates
Vendi Today checks incoming records against your existing contacts and gives you the choice of how to handle matches — skip them, update the existing record, or create a new one. Choosing the right option here keeps your list clean instead of doubling up on people you already have.
After the import
Give it a few minutes for larger files to finish processing. Once complete, open the list you assigned during setup to confirm everyone landed where expected, and spot-check a record or two to make sure the field mapping came through correctly. If something looks off, you can always adjust individual records or re-import a corrected file.
