Reward Interest with the Modify Contact Engagement Score Action

The Modify Contact Engagement Score action adds points to, or subtracts points from, a contact's engagement score. Use it to turn actions like clicks and replies into a number you can sort and segment by.

Settings

  • Add or Subtract: choose the direction.
  • Points: enter how many points to apply.

Set it up

  1. Open Automation > Workflows and choose a trigger, such as Email Event, Trigger Link Clicked or Form Submitted.
  2. Click + and choose Modify Contact Engagement Score.
  3. Select Add or Subtract and enter the points.
  4. Save the action and publish the workflow.

A simple scoring plan

  • Opened an email: add 2 points.
  • Clicked a trigger link: add 10 points.
  • Submitted a form: add 15 points.
  • Marked as spam or unsubscribed: subtract 20 points.

Create one small workflow per behavior, or branch inside one workflow with If/Else.

Using the score

Higher scores help you spot the most interested contacts. Use them to prioritize outreach, build smart lists for exclusive offers, or let an If/Else send hot leads to a rep.

Example

A contact opens a campaign email and clicks the offer link. The workflow adds 10 points, and a later branch notifies the sales rep once the score passes a threshold you choose.

Good to know: Subtract points for negative signals too, otherwise scores only climb and lose their meaning.
