Set Up Shipping Profiles for Your Store

If your products have different shipping needs — different weights, sizes, or regional availability — shipping profiles let you set specific rates per product or group of products, instead of a single flat rate for everything.

How it works

Every store starts with a General Profile that covers all products by default. You can create additional Custom Profiles for specific items or regions. When a customer's cart includes products from more than one profile, the applicable rates from each are combined and shown to the customer as a single, combined shipping line — they don't see separate shipping charges for each profile.

Create a custom profile

  1. Go to Payments → Settings → Shipping & Delivery → Custom Profiles.
  2. Click Add Custom and name the profile.
  3. Choose which stores and products the profile applies to.
  4. Define shipping zones by geography — you can use ZIP/postcode wildcards to cover ranges rather than listing every code individually.
  5. Choose a rate type: flat-rate, weight-based, price-based, or free.
  6. Save, then place a test order to confirm rates calculate as expected.

Good to know

  • If a connected shipping app integration fails to return a rate, checkout automatically falls back to the General Profile rather than blocking the sale.
  • At checkout, free shipping options are automatically sorted to appear first when available.
  • Some third-party integrations (like Printful) automatically create their own shipping profile when connected.
