Add and Edit Search Details for a Blog Post
Every post has a small set of fields that control how it appears in search results and when shared. Filling them in well can lift both clicks and accessibility.
The fields
- Title: the headline shown in search results. Keep it clear and under about 60 characters.
- Cover Image: the picture used on post cards and social previews.
- Alt Text: a short description of the cover image for screen readers and image search.
- Post Description: a preview summary. Aim for 100 to 250 characters.
Add them while writing
- Open your blog and click New Post (or edit a draft).
- Write your content and click Continue.
- Set the category, author and keywords.
- In the SEO Metadata area, complete the title, cover image, alt text and description.
- Choose Draft, Publish or Schedule.
Edit them later
- Go to Sites > Blog and open the blog.
- Click the three-dot menu next to the post.
- Choose Change Blog Post SEO Details.
- Update the fields and click Update Blog Post.
You never need to recreate a post just to fix its metadata.
Good to know: Write the description like a one-sentence promise to the reader; it is the line they see right before deciding to click.
