Moving From the Original Blog to the Updated Blog
Vendi Today now offers an updated blog system that replaces the older blog element once built into individual funnels and websites. This article explains what changed and how to move your content across.
What is different
- Shorter URLs. Posts live at
yourdomain.com/post/post-name. Categories, tags and authors get matching paths under your blog slug, such as/blog/category/category-name. - Automatic sitemap. New posts are added to your domain's sitemap on publish, so you no longer edit it by hand.
- Canonical tags. Each post can point search engines to the preferred version of the page.
- Full-page posts. Every post opens as its own page, so you can add subscribe forms, comment areas, calendars or extra text around it.
- Flexible cards. Pick which details appear on each post card in your blog list.
What happens to your older blog
Existing blog posts built the old way keep working, and you can still add new ones. They will not benefit from the cleaner URLs, canonical tags or automatic sitemap, so a move is recommended.
How to move
- Go to Sites > Blog and create a new blog (see the article on creating a blog).
- Re-create or import your posts into the new blog, either one at a time with New Post or in bulk using the import tools.
- Connect the same domain and choose a blog slug.
- Add 301 redirects from your old post URLs to the new ones so visitors and search engines land on the right pages.
- Review the posts in Draft status, then publish them.
Good to know: Move your highest-traffic posts first and keep the old versions live until the redirects are tested.
