Recipe: Reply to Facebook Comments and Deliver a Free Guide by Messenger
Use this recipe when a Facebook post invites people to comment for a free resource. It answers publicly, opens a private chat, and delivers the file, all automatically.
Plan the pieces
- A connected Facebook page (Settings > Integrations).
- A post with a clear invitation, such as "Comment GUIDE to get your free budgeting guide".
- The guide file or link.
Build the workflow
- Go to Automation > Workflows, choose Create Workflow, then pick the Facebook comment recipe or build from scratch.
- Trigger: Facebook comment on a post. Choose the Page first (other filters depend on it), then the post, and limit it to first-level comments.
- Action - Reply in Comments: a short public reply, such as "Thank you! Please check your Messenger inbox." Add variations to sound natural.
- Action - Facebook Interactive Messenger: send an opening message with two buttons, for example Visit our website and Get the guide.
- Action - follow-up Interactive Messenger: after the button tap, send the guide link with a friendly line.
- Save and publish.
Optional upgrades
- Add the commenter to a pipeline stage called "Guide Requested".
- Tag contacts for a later email nurture.
- Add an If/Else that branches on which button was tapped.
- Send a task to your sales team for contacts who clicked Visit our website.
Testing checklist
- Post or reuse a test post and comment from a second account.
- Confirm the public reply appears.
- Confirm the Messenger message arrives with both buttons.
- Tap each button and check the next step.
- Review Execution Logs for the contact.
Common snags
- Wrong page selected: the post list will not show your post.
- Replies to your own replies: use first-level-only to avoid loops.
- Messages not delivering: the person must have recently interacted with your page.
Good to know: Keep public replies varied; identical replies on many comments can look like spam to viewers.
