Compare Live Values and Company Fields in If/Else Conditions

If/Else can compare a field to something that changes, not just to a number or word you typed in. This article covers dynamic values and company fields.

Dynamic values

In the right-hand input of a condition, switch the value type to Dynamic Value and select either an earlier step's output or a stored field. This lets you branch on a total calculated upstream or on a date captured elsewhere.

Supported condition types:

  • Numeric: scores, counts, totals.
  • Date: appointment or renewal dates.
  • Monetary: invoice totals or amounts.
  • Select or dropdown (advanced): requires option IDs, not display names. IDs for items like pipelines and stages are found in your settings.

Set it up

  1. Add an If/Else action and choose the left-hand field.
  2. In the right-hand input, switch to Dynamic Value.
  3. Pick the earlier output or field.
  4. Choose a number, date or value operator.
  5. Save and publish.

Company fields

In a contact workflow you can select company fields in conditions. They appear in the field picker next to contact fields and are blank if the contact has no associated company.

Uses include:

  • Route contacts by the company's state or region.
  • Apply special handling for a particular company name.

Example

A Math Operation step totals an order. If/Else then checks whether the total is greater than the contact's stored credit limit, using the limit as a dynamic value. Orders above it go to manual review.

Good to know: When a dynamic comparison seems to fail, check the values in the execution log, since an empty upstream result compares as blank.
