Advanced Filters in Sites Analytics

Advanced Filters let you slice your analytics down to exactly the audience you care about. You can combine several conditions, group them, and apply them to funnels, websites, and webinars without exporting anything.

What you can filter by

Fields include city, state or province, country, page title, browser, device type, source, and medium. Each condition uses Is or Is not, and can match one or more values. For example, you could view only mobile visitors from a particular country who arrived from paid social.

Building a filter

  1. Click Sites in the left menu, then Analytics in the top bar.
  2. Choose Funnels, Websites, or Webinars.
  3. Click Advanced Filter in the top-right corner.
  4. Click + Add Filter.
  5. Pick a field, choose Is or Is not, and select the value or values.
  6. Click Add Filter again for each additional condition.
  7. Choose AND (every condition must match) or OR (any condition may match).
  8. To group conditions, click Add Nested Filter and build the group inside it.
  9. Click Apply to refresh the dashboard.

Add Filter versus Add Nested Filter

Add Filter places another condition at the same level as the others. Add Nested Filter starts a small group whose logic is resolved first, then combined with the rest. Use a nested group when you need something like "(Chrome OR Safari) AND mobile".

Things to remember

  • Your basic selections, such as the chosen asset and date range, still apply underneath your filters.
  • You can remove one condition at a time or clear everything to start over.
  • Filters are not saved. If you refresh the page or leave Analytics, you will need to rebuild them.

Good to know: Jot down your favorite filter combinations somewhere handy, since they reset each time you leave the page.
