Import Blog Posts From Another Website
The URL importer scans your existing blog, shows what it found and brings the articles into Vendi Today, so you do not have to copy and paste each one.
Start the import
- Go to Sites > Blog and open the target blog (or create one).
- Click New Post > Import Blog Posts from URL.
- Enter the homepage address of the blog you are moving.
- Add the address of one recent post.
- Choose the platform the site is built on.
- Click Continue and wait while the scan runs.
Map the content
You are guided to identify which parts of a sample page are the title, body, author, category and so on. When every item has a green check mark, mapping is complete. Plan on roughly 10 to 20 minutes per 1,000 posts.
Review and import
- Fully mapped posts are brought in as Published.
- Posts with missing mapping arrive as Draft for you to fix.
- Select the ones you want and click Import Selected.
You can add missing authors, categories or tags during the process.
If the scan fails
The importer relies on the source site's sitemap. If your old blog has no sitemap listing its posts, the scan cannot find them. Use the CSV importer instead.
Good to know: Set up redirects from the old addresses after importing so your search rankings carry over.
