Trigger Links: Track Clicks and Start Automations
A trigger link is a trackable short link that you put inside messages. When a contact clicks it, they are sent to the page you chose, the click is logged on their timeline, and a Workflow can react immediately. It turns a passive link into a signal of interest.
Where They Work
Trigger links work in SMS, email, Google Business Profile messages, and Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp direct messages. They do not apply to other places such as web pages.
What Happens on a Click
- The contact is redirected to the destination URL.
- Vendi Today records the click in the contact's activity timeline.
- Any workflow that listens for that link can start or continue.
Create a Link
- Go to Marketing, then Trigger Links.
- Click Add Link.
- Enter a clear name, such as "Spring promo - claim offer".
- Paste the destination URL.
- Save, then copy the generated link and insert it into your SMS, email, or message.
Ways to Use Them
- Engagement scoring: see who actually clicked a resource.
- Event RSVPs: one click confirms attendance and starts a confirmation sequence.
- Appointment follow-up: a clicked reminder can trigger a survey or review request.
- Educational content: tag contacts by which tutorial they opened.
- Personalized recommendations: send each segment to a tailored page.
- Opt-outs: unsubscribe links that honor each channel.
Check a Contact's Clicks
Open Contacts, find the person, and view their Activity tab to see every click with its time.
Good to know: Always insert the trigger link itself in your message. Pasting only the destination URL will not record clicks or fire automations.
