Remove Your Domain from a Blocklist

Bounce messages mentioning "blacklist," "RBL," or "DBL" mean your domain or IP landed on a public blocklist.

Confirming it

Read the bounce message text — it usually names the blocklist. Run your domain, IP, and any links through MXToolbox's Blacklist Check.

Getting removed

1. Identify what's listed — domain, IP, or a link may each be flagged separately.
2. Review recent content for triggers — shortened links, new domains, a volume spike.
3. Submit a removal request directly to the blocklist operator (Spamhaus, Barracuda, SpamCop, SURBL, etc.) — free.
4. Wait 24–72 hours for processing.

Preventing it from happening again

Avoid shortened URLs, clean your list regularly, keep volume and frequency consistent.

Most senders recover fully within a few weeks of delisting, provided the underlying cause doesn't repeat.
