Release Contacts in Batches with the Drip Action

The Drip action pushes contacts through a workflow in controlled batches instead of all at once. It protects your sending reputation and keeps large lists from flooding your team or channels.

Settings

  • Action Name.
  • Batch Size: how many contacts move on each time, from 1 to 10,000.
  • Drip Interval: how often a batch is released, in minutes (1 to 60), hours (1 to 24) or days (1 to 7).

How it differs from Wait

A Wait holds everyone until the same time, then releases them all together. Drip releases a set number per interval.

Set it up

  1. Open your workflow, click + and choose Drip.
  2. Name it, then set the batch size and interval.
  3. Review the Drip Preview, which lists projected batch times for up to ten batches. It warns you if a workflow time window shifts any batch.
  4. Save and publish.

Watching progress

Click the statistics icon on the action to see contacts currently waiting, the next batch, a full schedule, and options to move a contact to the next step or delete them.

Behavior to expect

  • Changing batch size later applies only to new contacts. Those already queued keep the old one.
  • If the workflow goes back to Draft, queued contacts are paused. Publishing resumes the original pacing instead of releasing everyone at once.

Example

Importing 5,000 contacts for a promotion: set batch size 200 every 2 hours, then send the offer after the Drip.

Good to know: Pick a batch size your team can handle replies for, not just one your provider allows.
