Annotate, Disable, and Tidy Steps in the Advanced Builder

Big workflows get hard to read. The Advanced Builder includes tools that help you document your thinking, test selectively, and keep the canvas clean.

Sticky notes

Add a note from the left sidebar, pick a color and style, and type your explanation. Notes accept images and links, so you can reference a design file or a policy page. Use colors consistently, such as yellow for assumptions and red for "do not change".

Disable and enable steps

To test without rewiring, hover over a step and click the pause icon. A disabled step is skipped while its connections stay intact. Hover again and click play to turn it back on. This is useful when you want to try a flow without sending a text or email.

Bulk selection

Select several steps and use the context actions to Enable/Disable, Format Selection, or Add Sticky Note. Reorganizing a long branch takes seconds instead of dozens of clicks.

Right-click quick actions

Right-click a step to reach common actions without hunting through panels.

Tidy Up

Click Tidy Up to automatically arrange the canvas. It is especially handy after large edits or pasting in branches.

Keyboard and navigation

Open the keyboard icon at the top left to see the full list of shortcuts for navigation, tools, view, and editing. The Workflow Switcher in the left sidebar lists recent workflows and searches by name or tag. Choosing one opens it in a new tab, so your current canvas stays open.

Long names

Long workflow names are shortened in the header; hover over the name to read it in full.

Good habits

  • Add a note whenever the logic isn't obvious.
  • Disable rather than delete while experimenting.
  • Run Tidy Up before sharing a workflow with colleagues.

Good to know: Disabled steps are skipped silently, so re-enable them before publishing for real.
