Move Contacts Between Workflows with Add to Workflow and Remove from Workflow

These two actions hand contacts from one automation to another, which keeps each workflow short and focused.

Add to Workflow

  • Action Name and Target Workflow: the workflow to start for this contact.
  • Pass Input Trigger Parameters (optional): sends the original trigger data, such as booking details, into the new workflow. It does not pass values created later in the flow, for example the result of a custom code step.

Example: after a booking, add the contact to an "Appointment Follow-Up" workflow that handles reminders and confirmations.

Remove from Workflow

Choose what to remove:

  • Current Workflow: ends this contact's run in the workflow they are in.
  • Another Workflow: select one workflow.
  • All Except Current Workflow.
  • All Workflows: removes the contact from every active workflow.

Example: when a contact purchases, remove them from the promotional workflow so they stop receiving offers.

Set up either action

  1. Open the workflow and click +.
  2. Choose Add to Workflow or Remove from Workflow.
  3. Name it and choose the target or removal option.
  4. Click Save Action, test, and publish.

When to use them

  • Hand off from a lead workflow to a customer workflow.
  • Stop competing sequences when a status changes.
  • End a run without deleting any contact data.

Good to know: Removing from All Workflows also ends the current one, so place it as the final step.
