Auto-Create Companies When Importing Contacts
If you're importing a batch of contacts that already includes their business name, you don't have to create company records separately — Vendi Today can generate and link them automatically as part of the same import.
How it works
The automation is driven entirely by the contact's Business Name field. When it's present on an imported contact, the system either creates a new company with that name or links the contact to a matching existing one.
Setting it up
- Go to Settings → Objects → Companies and turn on the automatic company creation option.
- Prepare your CSV file with a column named exactly Business Name.
- Go to Contacts and start a standard import.
- During field mapping, make sure your CSV's Business Name column maps to the contact's Business Name field.
- Choose Create and update contacts as the import type.
- Run the import.
Verifying it worked
- Open an imported contact and check its Associations section — the company should appear there.
- Or go to the Companies tab and confirm the business names from your CSV now exist as company records.
Why this saves time
For a large import, this turns what would be a separate, manual company-creation pass into a single step — every contact with a business name on file ends up correctly linked to its company automatically.
