Connect and Post to Bluesky
Bluesky can be connected with a special app password, and then you can write, schedule, and review posts alongside every other network.
Create an app password in Bluesky
An app password protects your main login. It is shown only once, so copy it right away.
- Sign in to Bluesky in a separate browser tab.
- Open Settings > Privacy & security > App Passwords.
- Click + Add App Password, name it, and click Next.
- Copy the password that appears.
Connect it to Social Planner
- Go to Marketing > Social Planner and click + Socials.
- Choose Connect Bluesky.
- Enter your username without the @ symbol, such as name.bsky.social.
- Paste the app password. Do not use your normal Bluesky password.
- Click Connect, then click Add next to your profile.
The account will appear in the All Accounts dropdown. Connect extra handles one by one, each with its own app password. If a password is lost or expires, delete it in Bluesky, create a new one, and reconnect.
Posting rules
- Up to 300 characters, with emoji supported.
- Links must begin with http:// or https:// and count as 23 characters, so avoid link shorteners.
- Mentions need the full handle, such as @name.bsky.social, and there is no autocomplete.
- Hashtags can contain letters, numbers, and underscores, but not numbers alone.
- Images: JPEG or PNG, 1 MB each, up to 4.
- Video: MP4 or MOV up to 50 MB and 3 minutes, one per post and not combined with images.
- A maximum of 100 posts per 24 hours.
Extras
Bluesky posts can go through your approval flow, and you can read and reply to comments from the Comments inbox. Statistics shows posts, likes, comments, impressions, and engagement.
Good to know: Keep your app password in a password manager in case you need to reconnect.
