Creating a Send Email Action in a Workflow
The Send Email action puts an email at any step of an automation. The editor is the same one used for campaigns and bulk sends, so everything feels familiar.
Getting there
You can reach workflow emails two ways:
- Marketing > Emails > Campaigns > Workflow campaigns
- Automation > Workflows
Set up your trigger and basic structure first, then add or edit the action.
Choose how to start
- Quick Compose (default): a light editor for short, direct messages.
- Smart Builder: build from scratch in the Design, Code or Plain Text editor.
- Select Template: pick from My Templates or the template library.
Step by step
- Open a workflow and add or edit the Send Email action.
- Fill in sender basics first: From Name, From Email, and CC or BCC if needed.
- Choose a starting mode.
- If using a template, select it from the Templates dropdown. Use the three dots to Edit Design or Remove.
- Decide whether to tick Sync Edits to Template.
- Expand Advanced Settings to configure link tracking, UTM parameters and tags.
- Send a test email to yourself.
- Click Save Action and publish the workflow.
After it sends
Reopen the action and click View Details or Performance to see how the email performed.
Frequently asked questions
- Does a template copy follow the original? Only if sync is on. Otherwise the workflow step keeps its own version.
Good to know: Complete the sender details before writing the body, so every test email shows the right From address.
