Fix the Fingerprint Error in an Order Form Embedded on WordPress

If a funnel order form shown inside a WordPress page displays a fingerprint error, the buyer's browser is blocking the storage the payment step needs.

Two situations

Only some visitors see it. Their browser settings block cookies or storage. This is rare. Ask them to try another browser or loosen privacy settings.

Everyone sees it. The funnel domain does not match your site. The form loads inside a frame on your WordPress page, and browsers block storage between different domains. The funnel needs a subdomain of the same domain as your WordPress site.

Use a matching domain

If WordPress runs on www.example.com, do not use example.com or www.example.com for the funnel. Use a different subdomain, such as funnels.example.com.

  1. Go to Settings > Domains and add that subdomain. Make sure nothing else is hosted on it.
  2. Open the funnel's settings, choose the new domain and save.
  3. Confirm the funnel loads on that subdomain.

Refresh the embedded funnel

  1. In your WordPress plugin settings, hard refresh the page and save your connection key again.
  2. Click edit on the funnel page you want to fix and wait for it to finish loading.
  3. When the preview address shows your matching domain, click Save.

Test

Open the WordPress page in a private window and submit a test order.

Good to know: Keep funnel pages on a subdomain of your main domain from the start and you will avoid this error entirely.
