Push Contact Data to Another App with the Webhook Action

The Webhook action sends a package of data from your workflow to a web address you specify, the moment a contact reaches that step. It connects Vendi Today to automation platforms, spreadsheets, databases and custom tools in real time.

Configure it

  1. Open Automation > Workflows and edit a workflow that already has a trigger.
  2. Click +, search for webhook, and select Webhook.
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Action Name: describe the purpose, such as "Send new lead to CRM".
    • Method: the request type. POST is the default and the right choice for sending data.
    • URL: the destination address from the receiving app. Paste it exactly.
  4. Under Custom Data, click + Add item to include extra information. Enter a Key (a simple label without spaces, like lead_source) and a Value, which can be plain text or a custom value such as {{contact.source}}.
  5. Click Save Action.

What gets sent

Every webhook includes standard details about the contact, such as name, email, phone and address, and also information tied to the trigger that started the workflow, such as form answers or appointment details. Your custom items are added to that package.

Test before you rely on it

  1. Create a free test address with a webhook testing tool.
  2. Paste it into the URL field.
  3. Run the workflow with a test contact.
  4. Inspect what arrived, then replace the test address with the real one.

Webhook or Custom Webhook?

Use this simple Webhook action for straightforward sends. Use the Custom Webhook action when you need headers, authentication, other request types or precise control of the body.

Tips

  • Keep keys consistent so the receiving system can map fields reliably.
  • Treat the URL like a password; anyone with it can submit data.
  • Check the workflow's execution log if data does not arrive.

Good to know: Many apps give you a catch-all URL you can paste here, which makes setup a two-minute job.
