Set Up the Voice AI Chat Widget
The Voice AI chat widget lets a visitor talk to your AI agent right in their browser. There is no phone number or app involved, which makes it a low-friction way to qualify leads.
What visitors can do
Start, mute and end a voice session, give contact details out loud and restart at any time. Most Voice AI actions work; call transfer is not available.
Before you start
- Turn the feature on in Settings > Labs.
- Finish your Voice AI setup and create at least one agent. The widget cannot be built without one.
Create the widget
- Go to Sites > Chat Widget and click New.
- Choose Voice AI as the type.
- Open the Agent tab, pick the agent and enter a display name such as "Sales Assistant".
- Click Save.
- Click Get Code, copy the script and add it to your site's header or footer tracking area, or select the widget in your site settings.
- Publish and test with a real voice call.
You can also connect a widget from an agent's Deploy tab in AI Agents > Voice AI.
Built-in safeguards
- A notice tells callers that voice chats from widgets are not recorded.
- A reCAPTCHA challenge appears after repeated rapid connect and disconnect attempts.
- Concurrent calls per account are capped, and extra visitors see a busy message.
Best practices
- Add it to high-intent pages such as contact, pricing or demo pages.
- Test microphone permissions in several browsers.
Good to know: Visitors must allow microphone access, and most browsers remember the choice after the first time.
