Create Facebook Text Posts with Colored Backgrounds
Short text posts shown over a colorful backdrop catch the eye in a busy Facebook feed. You can design, preview, and schedule them directly in Social Planner using Facebook's own background styles.
When to use them
- Brief announcements, reminders, or offers.
- Quotes, questions, and fun prompts that show brand personality.
- Calls to action that need to stand out.
Rules
- Backgrounds work only on text-only posts. If you attach any image, video, or carousel, the Text Background option switches off automatically.
- If you edit a scheduled post that already has a background and then add media, the background is removed so the post stays valid.
- You choose from Facebook's built-in presets; custom background images cannot be uploaded.
- Emojis, hashtags, and @mentions all still work.
Create one
- Open Marketing > Social Planner and click + New Post.
- Select one or more Facebook Pages in Post to. The Text Background option appears once Facebook is chosen.
- Type your message without adding media.
- Click Text Background and pick a preset from the panel.
- Check the live preview. The text size adjusts to the amount of copy, so short messages look larger.
- Refine the wording and line breaks until it reads well.
- Choose Post now, or schedule it for a date and time.
Design tips
- Keep it short and punchy.
- Write the message first, then test different backgrounds.
- Use the same background for a campaign, such as one color for sales and another for tips, so your followers recognize the pattern.
Good to know: The option does not appear for other networks, so use Customize for each channel to give Instagram or LinkedIn their own media version.
