Send an Email Campaign in Batches

Batch scheduling, sometimes called drip mode, spreads a campaign across several timed sends instead of mailing everyone at once. It keeps sudden traffic to your Sites away from overloading and gives you control over pacing.

What you can control

  • Batch Quantity: how many emails go out in each batch. This is the size of a batch, not how many batches there are. Sending to 10,000 contacts with a quantity of 1,000 produces 10 batches.
  • Repeat after: the gap between batches, in minutes, hours or days.
  • Active days: untick days of the week when nothing should send.
  • Daily window: a start and end time for each active day.

Set it up

  1. Go to Marketing > Emails > Campaigns and create or open a campaign.
  2. Design the email and test it.
  3. Click Send or Schedule and choose Batch Schedule.
  4. Set the start date and time.
  5. Enter the Batch Quantity.
  6. Choose the Repeat after interval.
  7. Untick days you want to skip and set the daily start and end times.
  8. Fill in Sender Name, Sender Email, Subject Line and optional preview text.
  9. Pick your recipients in the To field, then click Schedule.

The end time cannot be earlier than the start time. If it is, an error appears and the buttons stay disabled until you fix it.

After scheduling

You can reschedule or cancel the campaign from the list, at least an hour before the next send. To edit the copy of a running batch campaign, use Update Email Content and save before the next batch begins.

Good to know: Double-check the date, time and time zone before scheduling. A long batch plan is harder to correct once it has started.
