Move an Existing WordPress Site to Vendi Today Hosting

If your WordPress site lives with another host, you can transfer it to Vendi Today hosting using the migration plugin. The plugin has no file-size limit, so it works for large sites too.

Before you begin

• Create or choose the destination WordPress site in Sites > WordPress in Vendi Today.
• Make sure you have administrator access to the site you are moving, which is called the source site.
• Take a backup of the source site, just in case.

Migrating with the plugin

1. In Vendi Today, open Sites > WordPress and start a new migration.
2. Download the migration plugin as a .zip file. Do not unzip it.
3. On the source site, go to Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin, choose the .zip, click Install Now, then Activate Plugin.
4. Back in Vendi Today, select the destination WordPress site.
5. Click Start migration.
6. Watch the progress bar on the source site while content is copied.
7. When it finishes, click View Your New Website to inspect the result.

After the transfer

• Browse key pages, forms, and checkout flows to confirm everything works.
• Attach your domain to the new site and update DNS when you are satisfied. See the article on adding a domain to a WordPress site.
• Keep the old hosting active until the new site is fully verified, then cancel it.
• Deactivate and remove the migration plugin from the old site once you are done.

If something looks off

Re-run the migration after clearing caches on the source, check that the source site's PHP version is supported, and make sure security plugins are not blocking the transfer. Contact support if the progress bar stops moving.

Good to know: Migrate during a quiet period and avoid editing content on the old site while the transfer runs, so nothing is left behind.
